Plan your journey from Rome Ciampino Airport
When in Rome, there’s always so much to see, do and eat. While the ‘Eternal City’ is famed for its ancient sights, it also has a cosmopolitan buzz about it, with great shopping, a vibrant cafe culture, top restaurants and a thriving nightlife.
The city’s piazzas are very much the centre of activity in Roman life. Besides providing beautiful places to relax, these squares are brimming with architectural gems and historic features. Head to Piazza di Trevi to admire the Trevi Fountain, the largest and most famous Baroque foundation in Rome. The Spanish Steps, a monumental staircase that’s always filled with people, are located in Piazza di Spagna and lead up from the Barcaccia Fountain.
Out of all of Rome’s top sights, it’s the oldest ones that are the most awe-inspiring. Monuments from ancient Rome such as the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and Palatine Hill transport you back thousands of years to a time of gladiators, chariots and centurions.
No trip to Rome is complete without admiring the incredible painted ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. This is located within the Vatican Museum, in Vatican City, where the best classical statues and renaissance art in the world is exhibited. If you’re interested in contemporary art, then visit the likes of the MACRO (the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome) and MAXXI (the National Museum of Art of the 21st Century)
